I present to you: the (almost) complete European Research Council (ERC) Ecosystem & Landscape Dynamics (ELD) department IBED SHIFTFEEDBACK team (Albert is missing)! We were in the field today at our #drought experiment and here we're enacting a social-distance-team-hug.

Most organisms shed DNA in their habitat. This #environmentalDNA can be picked up by new methods and was mainly used for finding elusive species. A new paper by our Dr. Kathryn Stewart💧🧬 shows we can also use #eDNA to study hybridisation among species, giving more insight in #evolution

Only 10 percent of world’s protected nature areas are connected, threatening biodiversity! New publication by IBED researcher James Allan James Allan in Nature Communications. Read more on our website: ibed.uva.nl/shared/faculte…

And another big experiment for my European Research Council (ERC) project is shaping up! Here, Eileen Enderle will investigate how interactions between plants and microbes determine ecosystem response to #drought

Methodology published for quality improvement in genetic database GenBank in Scientific Data by UvA Faculty of Science alumnus Biological Sciences Thijs van den Burg Matthijs van den Burg. Read more about his research and the case study on amphibians on our website: ibed.uva.nl/content/news/2…

On Friday, January 26th, Giuditta Beretta will defend her PhD thesis entitled "Surviving the Greenhouse: Thrips, Biocontrol, Antipredator Behaviours and Plant-mediated Interactions". The ceremony will be held at De Aula in Amsterdam at 11am. Good luck! 🕷️
