🧵 Millions of people across the UK, like Amanda, Kevin and Matt, are facing hunger. Despite living in one of the wealthiest countries in the world, 1 in 7 people in the UK face hunger due to a lack of money. But it doesn’t have to be this way for anyone.

✅ Our social security system should be there to support us to live with dignity when we go through tough times. ❌ But right now, it’s falling short and forcing people to go without essentials, like food. It shouldn’t be this way.

Action needs to start with political commitment. We need leaders to be clear on how they will build a future where no one needs to use a food bank to survive. Public polling is clear: this level of hardship is unacceptable and the next govt will be judged on if it tackles it.

🚨 Food banks in our network provided a record number of emergency food parcels last year. But how many was it? 🎤 We asked the public if they could guess - and what they think needs to change to create a future where no one needs emergency food to survive.
