This is the second Mother’s Day in a row I’ve comforted a friend seriously considering divorce. Moms just want a short break from all the invisible labor. Young kids CANNOT give mom that break. Only adults can take that burden for a little while. Partners, do better.

SO inspired and amazed by the women founders I’m meeting today. These leaders are tackling problems from climate to menstruation management. Thank you for putting this together Graham & Walker!!

Accelerators pitch relocating for 3+ months as a highlight. Dude, I have kids in school. I can’t MOVE my life for a few months if ā€œmentorshipā€ and a few thousand dollars. Cohort programs are great for young founders. But parents need other avenues of support.

When my 7yo introduces himself to new kids at the playground, he says, ā€œI’m into BIG projects.ā€ He’s not lying. Yesterday we had to figure out how to hang this piece he brought home from school. It’s over 10 feet tall.

End of school year / beginning of summer is a super stressful time for parents of school-age kids. Check on us. Preferably with coffee in hand. We are not okay.

Since having my first kid 7 years ago, I’ve told myself that I’m a morning person. So why is it so much easier for me to accidentally get into a work flow state after dark? Lmao maybe just bc I’m more coherent than my spouse at 7am does not mean I’m at my ✨ best ✨

Nearly every interview I’ve done w/moms this week has kids popping in to say hi, moms still in gym clothes and sweaty, calls from cars or closets (me too!), or a pause to make a snack. Every man I’ve interviewed was in a quiet office space and was not interrupted once.

Parenting is the overwhelming instinct to protect your child at all costs even while knowing that you shouldn’t and feeling powerless because most of the time, you can’t. This sh*t is hard.

In a Bay Area coffee shop working on my startup. I’m at a long table with 2 engineers actively working on computer hardware across from me and a fellow at the other end on a zoom clearly recruiting someone to his startup’s advisory board. Is this place even real??
