5 years later and this tweet still stops me in my tracks every time. Microbudget filmmakers. Never underestimate the power of lighting.

Mads Mikkelsen began acting at 31 with Pusher (1996), instantly making his mark in Danish cinema. A former dancer, he brought sharp physicality to roles like Pusher II and The Hunt (2012). Global fame came with Casino Royale and his haunting turn as Hannibal Lecter.

ive always been trying to convey this idea but never as succintly as this. we let capitalism pervade our perception of arts scenes we're too prone to calling people "failed rappers," "flops" etc instead of saluting someone brave enough to put their art into the world

sometimes even an apology can’t fix what happened because the real issue is not the mistake, it’s the part of your character that allowed you to do it in the first place. and you can’t apologize for character.

God only visits the bottom because the top is too crowded with men who think they did it themselves. Miracles need space and the disparaged have nothing but space and into that emptiness rushes the impossible. The man everyone believes in doesn't need God, he has their belief

this is the best reply to anyone with a creative impulse who resists because “everything’s already been said.” writers have always repeated the same ideas in new language. repetition is how ideas stay alive, and it’s astonishing how quickly we forget

I've never personally known more high earners, peak career years (30s/40s) who are just not working. Can't find jobs, don't know what to do, relying on spouse salary now etc. Boston, DC, SF, LA, Phx etc It's weird, & have to think not sustainable but how/when does it change

The reason your life will be devoid of true love or any sense of magic in perpetuity, the reason the doorways to fate and destiny will forever be closed, is thinking like this. You should not be "optimizing" for any such bullshit. You should be falling in love with strangers on

If there’s a single mistake I’ve made over the last decade it’s assuming that people are well-intentioned but not very smart when in reality they were just never well-intentioned in the first place
