🍼 Preterm infant (31+1 w, 1,470 g) with long-gap esophageal atresia—no primary anastomosis possible. After traction sutures & gastrostomy, a spontaneous suture fistula developed. By 6 months: full enteral feeds via dilated fistula. 💡 A new option for long-gap EA? #PedsSurg

🔬 We compared #TPEG vs. #PPEG in 146 children needing #gastrostomy. P-PEG required sedation for button change in 97% vs. 2.6% Early dislodgement: 7.2% (P-PEG) vs. 1.4% (T-PEG) urgent laparotomy/endoscopy: 18.6% vs. 6.6% 👉 T-PEG may be safer, less invasive & interventions.
