Guess what (I didn’t win, but yay)! Absolutely enjoying the thrill of submitting a grant application 35 mins before the award ceremony (knowing well that I need 5 mins for makeup and potentially 30 mins for tram). Tomorrow back to a full day of teaching #lovingacademialife 🎢

Not Darth Vader, but a 3D printed attachment to dispense food smell (odour) caplets. We are trying a few prototypes to understand ways to efficiently “dispense” odour within VR. Adapted and built by my awesome science project students: Aidan Beard, Geordie Hore & Grace (PhD).

Smell therapy bottles at uni for students by the students association. What a great way - I am snagging a bottle too 🥰 (I need a calm bottle for rejection news - which apparently Chanel no5 is pretty good at) 😅 #unilifeweek12

Extremely honoured to win the 1st prize at the recent Australian Space Research Conference. I presented about our research which my students (Grace, Hirdesh, Alicia), the Food in Space team (Computing), Ian and Jack (RMIT STEM Centre for Digital Innovation) did most of the hard work. Let’s keep this going!

We are inviting anyone working in a sensory lab to share their opinions by filling out a survey on sustainable lab practices. I know.. it's the end of year (and it's another survey) - but this will provide a landscape of sensory lab practices globally rmit.au1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_3P…

I am very happy to share that I will be a ‘Senior Lecturer’ next year! 🎉 It’s been a challenging but exciting 2.5 years at RMIT, to find my research direction and to build my own team from scratch. Thank you to my team, mentors, collaborators for giving me that lift and support.

Confined and isolating environments changed the way people smelled and responded emotionally to certain food aromas. New research from RMIT found the experience of a confined environment, evoked more intense perceptions of food aromas. rmit.edu.au/news/all-news/…

Check out our latest paper (and my passion project) by my PhD student, Grace Loke! The key point is that understanding the environment of space and how it impacts on us psychologically is important for Earth, in terms of wellbeing.

🚀Hot off the press - we found that confinement may affect how we feel about food. Pilot at this stage, but we have been seeing a consistent pattern suggesting that VR was effective in simulating a spacelike environment. Check out our latest paper: doi.org/10.1016/j.food…
