Exposition (the explanation of the text) is science. Delivery is art. The proper combination of both equals faithful, effective preaching.

Faithful preaching entails rich, Pauline doctrine. This requires two elements: warning and teaching. The truth that Christ offers is fully demonstrated in the comprehensive expression of Pauline doctrine (Colossians 1:27). Paul’s doctrine is Christology.

“Good preaching is the product of great study.” While dry, laborious lectures would not be the goal, informed preaching would be. The study is the fountainhead of sermonizing. Prayer is vital but no replacement for study. You pray for crops at the end of a hoe handle. #work
