Teachers, like nurses and midwives, deserve #MoreThanThanks. We stand with our striking colleagues from the Teachers Federation fighting for a better deal from this NSW government.

I’m a Principal and my senior executive team and executive colleagues will be out on Teachers Federation strike. We never want to hear a member of our staff feel guilty about only staying up to 4am once during the week to get through the work. This is not sustainable. #Morethanthanks

Every news segment I’ve seen this morning has focused on wages as the cause of todays actions and not the working conditions of teachers. Both are critical to this campaign. Workload & conditions are unsustainable. Quality teaching & learning is the goal #MoreThanThanks

Members at Terrigal High School walked out today when the Education Minister, Sarah Mitchell, walked in. Members remained outside for the duration of her visit, sending a strong message that they deserve #MoreThanThanks

Students at private schools in Australia are more advantaged, on average, than their peers at government schools: they have better-educated parents with higher incomes, so it’s no surprise they achieve at higher levels. Jane Caro Thankyou Pasi Sahlberg abc.net.au/radio/programs…

Nice read, loved the Ecosystem metaphor Dr Briony Scott (although this week felt more like the set of Home and Away). You hit quite a few nails on the head! afr.com/work-and-caree…

Been part of this rodeo for 37 years. Teachers have always tailored “teaching” to suit the needs of their unique communities. With so many variables, who decides what is good performance so staff get paid more? What are the pay bingo benchmarks? Teachers Federation @AGavrielatos

Ahh that old chestnut of performance pay for teachers... "I can't think of another profession who doesn't get paid on performance..."- D. Perrottet. How about anyone in medical or social working professions or umm... Politicians! Not that you could call many of them professional.

What game is the TMO watching tonight?!?!?!?! Rugby will continue to wander in the sporting wilderness while ever the game is picked apart by some joker watching a slo mo replay #sackthetmo. Good luck with the TV rights Rugby World Cup if this crap continues. Rant complete.

Allegra Spender Perhaps then we need to stop subsidising private schools, e.g. give state schools the $5 million govt. funding St Catherine’s, in your electorate, has received over the past decade, a school that’s just opened a $63 million auditorium/aquatic centre.

Now that the coalition doesn’t govern anywhere on the mainland time to accept that people care about climate change and they will never flirt with right wing religious zealots and their awful discriminatory prejudices.

Murat Dizdar Big tip, don’t buy in consulting. Embed expertise. Be substantial. Make secondments return to their position not level up and miss the details of being an AP or Deputy. Too many half baked exec who don’t know the coal face basics causing burden.

ABC News Here we go again. People who know little about school education, especially complexity of secondary education decide that literacy and numeracy (now just media buzz words) are all ITE should be about. Why do they never value deep school based expertise? Jason Clare MP

Christine Cawsey AM (@chriscawsey) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Thanks @DrDebHayes Good common sense backed by real research not think tanks. We have had graduate standards for years and many ITE reviews. Governments have failed for a decade to graduate sufficient secondary teachers, and have failed to fund ITE in critical subject areas.

A thought-provoking piece from @DrDebHayes on the latest review into ITE - “we cannot have the confidence to trust its findings or recommendations because it includes misrepresentations of entire fields of knowledge and key research findings” smh.com.au/education/poli…
