This is one way of looking at it. The other way is if money was really his main motivation, don't you think he'd have renewed for the additional £150k? Maybe - just maybe - the extra £150k+ is simply the amount some players now need to be convinced to play for Utd.

So ESL wanted to limit spend to 55% of revenue! Confirmation that the ESL is about owners controlling costs (and therefore hoarding profits) as much as it is about maximising revenue. It remains inevitable. You don't buy Chelsea for £4bn to barely break even every year.

As a Man Utd fan I understand a price reveal to mean you then bid 20% below it and then wait... So I might not start #FPL until GW12 this season, but picking up Sterling for £8m will be so worth it.

Cristiano Ronaldo was never the main problem at Manchester United, but you’re lying to yourself if you think he’s been even close to a success. He was brought in to give United an extra edge — they’ve only gotten drastically worse since his arrival.

"People look at Ronaldo and they see a star that's worth 25 million a year. What I see is an imperfect understanding of where wins come from."
