It is most interesting to analyze why there is such empathy for the private lives of public figures and why a large sector of the population is so engrossed and committed to every twist and turn of a sad narrative involving two human beings.

An interesting point to ponder: after all the speculation and assumptions about the sad outcome of a very public relationship of a popular couple, who if the two will be most affected in terms of career? Or will there be any effect at all?
