I walked my reptile survey today. Sometimes it took me a moment or two to work out how many Slow Worms were cosily under one mat!๐Ÿ๐Ÿ’š

The bright green bioluminescent light (sorry it's out of focus!) of a female Glow Worm I found on my midnight walk home from a Bat and Glow Worm walk at the wonderful Hazel Hill Wood

A gorgeous Beautiful Demoiselle Damselfly making an all too brief appearance in the garden. I've seen lots in the local woods, but this was first time I managed to get a photo this year!

Ergot (Claviceps purpurea) in a grass seedhead. There was quite a lot about. Not good news for the local haymakers, I assume!๐Ÿ˜ฌ

Alerted by agitated alarm calls, I looked up to see a bird of prey being mobbed by Swallows. Rubbish photos, but can anyone tell me what the bird of prey is? RSPB

Went out at midnight to look for shooting stars and glimpsed the Aurora borealis -a rare treat for south Wiltshire! Saw four spectacular meteors streaming across the sky as well!๐ŸŒ

This dusky-coloured Broad-leaved Helleborine was almost hidden from sight, growing under an umbrella of Bracken fronds in my local wood.
