Comparison of GOES-18 (West) & GOES-16 (East) of the smoke. G18 is looking in the direction of the Sun and gets light scatter off the top of the smoke. In the afternoon G16 will have the better view of smoke. #azwx

Strong storms across AZ this morning have left numerous hail swaths. Some of these storms also had weak rotation associated with them. Typical October "transition-season" event. #azwx

Rainfall amounts this morning from the Flagstaff rain gauge network. Flagstaff airport (not shown) received 1.38". This is the first significant rainfall in the area since the monsoon faded away in late August. (Sept. rainfall was 0.29".) #azwx

The moist remnants of Hurricane Kristy in the eastern Pacific are now streaming northeastward across AZ. Models suggested it would be a narrow plume of rain--and it is. #azwx

Two very wet storm systems in October resulted in Flagstaff, AZ having its 21st wettest October on record. Precip was 3.21" and was 211% of normal (1.52"). #azwx
