Nearly 300 swimmers took over the Chicago River this weekend — the first open-water race there in almost 100 years. A milestone for a river once deemed too dirty to touch. Congratulations to all in Chicago who worked tirelessly for many years to get the river to this point.

Over the next two weeks, #CCAMLR is meeting to decide the fate of Antarctica. On the agenda: stronger krill fishery management and the designation of the Domain 1 Marine Protected Area. CCAMLR has the power. Now it needs the political will. #ProtectAntarctica 📹 Lewis Pugh Foundation

Back in the altitude chamber at Plymouth Marjon University. The altitude is set to 4,000 metres. Hard work today, but essential for what lies ahead. 🏔️   Grateful to the team here for keeping me safe.

Glaciers look remote. Their impact is not. Nearly 70 percent of the world’s freshwater is stored in snow and ice, and the meltwater from mountain regions feeds rivers that support billions of people. As glaciers shrink, water becomes less predictable, affecting drinking

I climbed Mount Kenya this week and visited the Lewis Glacier. Only a tiny sliver of ice remains. It will be gone in a few years. When glaciers vanish, it’s not just the ice that disappears. It’s the water. The cooling. The life. The climate crisis is here. #MountainsMatter
