We spend 50% more hours in school than Finland. They get 15 mins of recess every hour. They have NO standardized tests except for PISA in HS and they outperform us every time. When we can’t give students more recess, physical activity & Arts then we don’t understand education.

I'll give the Buckeyes credit... They did a better job of stopping the flag being planted than they did stopping the run during the game. πŸ˜‚

Taking away recess for incomplete homework is counterproductive. Recess is essential for their physical, social, and emotional well-being, especially for the kids who need it most. Research also shows homework has little impact on academic achievement in elementary school.

I have a friend who struggled with standardized tests in school, but he worked hard, started his own HVAC company, and he makes a million $ a year in profits. Tests can’t measure resilience, work ethic, or determination. Success is more than a score.

Jalen Hurts getting benched in college football’s title game before going on to win a Super Bowl as a starting quarterback is going to be a great replacement for the β€œMichael Jordan got cut in high school” story we tell our children when things don’t go so well in sports.

We always had SEL in schools. It was called recess, play, Music, Art, Physical Education, etc. But now we limit or take them away & then we wonder why students lack social/emotional skills, resiliency, and the ability to connect with others.
