Many thanks to DART - OPTiK for giving the astrophysics postgrads, Calvince Juma and Vincent of Technical University of Kenya, the opportunity to be part of the mission aimed at testing a method of planetary defense against near-Earth objects.

See that plume? All four telescopes of ESO 's VLT will be looking towards the DART impact, to study the plume and obtain clues to the early Solar System ☄️🛰️ I've talked with Cyrielle Opitom and her colleagues who will lead the observations✨ eso.org/public/blog/vl…

If you are in Edinburgh and want to learn more about the #DARTMission and DART - OPTiK (and all the other exciting research going on at the Edinburgh's Royal Observatory), this weekend we are open to the public. Come along!

So happy to have spotted the #DARTMission impact flash and ejecta cloud with our portable telescope in Ileret, Northern Kenya. We don’t yet know what the future holds for optical astronomy in Kenya, but we can certainly say it started with a bang! TURKANA BASIN INSTITUTE Technical University of Kenya

1/ If you've read our latest #ESOblog you’ll know that our VLT has watched the aftermath of the #DARTmission impact: 🔗 eso.org/public/blog/vl… Here's a sneak-peek of the results. First, an image taken with the MUSE instrument. Look at those plumes! 📷 ESO /Opitom et al.

Through funding from the The Royal Society, we were able to fund an intern to help us with the communications and outreach parts of the #DARTOPTiK project. We visited the local school in Ileret, and were able to get the kids to come and look through the telescope at TBI 🔭

From today's NASA briefing about #DARTMission, a nice demonstration of how we measure the effect of the impact using telescopes - including Physics Astro @ Edin's contribution through observations at the ESO 1.54m Danish telescope (part of H2020 Neorocks!)

All you need to know about applying for Astro PhD studentships in Edinburgh! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🔭🌌🛰🪐jobregister.aas.org/ad/3ea6f975 I see a lot of PhD application pain on this app, so I will just point out that: 1. there is no fee to apply 2. the application form is 1-page long deadline 8 January

1/ 📢 First results in from ESO telescopes on the aftermath of #DART’s asteroid impact! eso.org/public/news/es… The collision was a test of #PlanetaryDefence, but also an opportunity to learn more about the asteroid’s composition. Read on👇 📷 ESO/Opitom et al.

We're 2 months away form Asteroids, Comets, Meteors and there is still no news about how much the registration fee is or how to register for the meeting. All we're hearing when reaching out to the SOC/LOC is that this is something that @usraedu LPItoday have to communicate
