Outdoor learning: we have been busy harvesting runner beans, squash, potatoes & onions (which have been used by our canteen). Pupils have also propogated over 150 strawberry🍓 plants, been saving seeds to plant next spring and filled new veg planters to extend our growing area 🌱

BTEC Work Skills: today we opened our own ‘Cynffig Chippy.’ We peeled and chopped the potatoes 🥔 to make chips. The pupils air fried and enjoyed them at break time- some even brought in their own BBQ sauce. Yummy! 😋 Some even shared 😅

Jewellery club on Tuesday saw more new faces… word is getting around… everyone welcome every Tuesday in Mrs Edwards (Spanish) classroom.

In outdoor learning: Yr 7 prepared the vegetable beds and planted onions and leeks. Year 8 and 9 planted out turnips, welsh onions and rainbow swiss chard and helped to line and fill new raised planters with compost. A year 7 pupil spotted this Pale Tussock Moth caterpillar.

Huge THANK YOU to Woodcraft for their very kind donation of gardening equipment. We are very grateful and everything will be put to good use. Thanks again! ☺️

Community 💙 Our pupils joined local feeder schools for the annual planting event—thanks to Pyle Garden Village and Council for hosting & providing the bulbs! The rain held off as we planted behind Pyle Leisure Centre & in the Edible Garden.Can’t wait to see them bloom for St David’s Day

Today Year 10+11 BTEC took part in the RSPB Big Schools’ birdwatch count. We walked around our school grounds searching for different species of birds, tallying them up and then inputted the results online to feed into national statistics🌿♥️🐦‍⬛

Dedication from Year 10 Work Skills, who came after school to cook 🧑‍🍳 their cookies and brownies. Very happy pupils left with their sweet treats! Well done Year 10 for the trial run.

Jewellery club saw some pupils in Year 7 taking the lead and initiative to make bracelets for charity. Daisy G wants to raise money by selling her handmade bracelets for Velindre 🥰💪🏻Watch this space for how to purchase one! Well done Daisy & friends 👏🏻

St David’s week Cynffig Comp Year 10 & 11 work skills: Today we cooked a delicious, healthy, Welsh themed leek and potato soup. Pupils learned to cube and chop equally. Also, to use the correct green recycling ♻️ bins for the peelings. Well done everyone and enjoy for tea 😋🍲
