Information pickets are going up outside schools across Fort McMurray this morning. The UCP government may be trampling on our right to strike but they won’t keep us quiet 📢✊📢 #ymm #ableg #abpoli #canlab

Alberta's school divisions are being forced to take direction from the province in bargaining. There's no denying this premier intents to continue interfering to try to keep front-line workers' wages down. But CUPE members won't be having it. We're united to achieve fair deals.

Workers have a legal right to strike in Canada. It’s protected by the Constitution. Alberta’s “Disputes Inquiry Board” process violates those rights. EPSB’s Superintendent should never have asked for a DIB and the UCP should never impose one (though they probably will).

“CUPE 3550 President Mandy Lamoureux says the board is paying $230 per day per teacher, considerably more than the wage being asked for by support workers in the strike.”

It all starts with a strong public education system—without it, we have nothing. To every educational support worker and ally on the picket lines, thank you for standing up and fighting back.

Education workers deserve a raise - that's why more than 4,000 are on strike and more could join them soon unless the provincial government lifts its wage cap and provides more support for Alberta education. Our kids deserve quality education. #ablel #abed
