Pleased to attend The White Helmets General Assembly Meeting yesterday in Damascus and learn of their momentous decision to transition activities to the Syrian Government. A promise made in 2014, a promise delivered with 🇬🇧 support.

Landmark event this week in Geneva. Syrian Commissioners for Transitional Justice & Missing Persons together with @TheICTJ, convened Syrian civil society and the international community. Glad to be there & look forward to supporting Syrian efforts on these crucial files.

Alarmed by escalating scenes in Syria. We want to see civilians protected and the ceasefire upheld, with those responsible for violence in Suwayda held to account. Israel's attacks in Damascus risks destabilising the country. Syria's sovereignty must be respected.

Horrified by the violence in Southern Syria. A sustainable ceasefire is vital. I spoke to Syrian Foreign Minister @AsaadHshaibani yesterday as part of UK efforts to urge a peaceful resolution. We want to see the fighting ended, civilians protected and humanitarian access

Delivery of a first convoy of aid to As-Sweida from the Syrian Arab Red Crescent - including supplies from the UN - is a welcome and desperately needed first step, but much more relief is needed. Our teams in country and HQ are mobilised to move as much as we can.
