A Johns Hopkins Medicine team shows that the primed pluripotent state can generate trophoblast stem cells by activating pathways such as EGF and WNT, and by suppressing TGFβ, HDACs, and ROCK signaling pathways, all without the addition of exogenous BMP4. go.nature.com/49CFZqr
