A much better solution would be to make your shader pre-compilation step actually work by catching most/all shaders. Having a ton of stutters on your first playthrough ruins the experience and makes you reluctant to continue the game.

A couple of examples from the video below (zoomed in for emphasis.) It's insane how much detail YouTube's compression kills if you don't give it obscenely high bitrate to work with.
