This week we are a little nervous, we’re a little scared, but we’re so very excited to finally start as foster parents. (I’m gonna try to play it cool but it’s gonna be real hard not to smother whoever they send with love. We just want to be a safe place for them)

First week of being a foster parent is in the books. Thank God for my brother giving me a crash course on parenting via text message. I think every kid should come with a text message help line.

While soprano Lisette Oropressa was singing her 4th encore, "Sempre libera" an opera number that has a tenor part, opera student Liu Jianwei spontaneously joins her in song when he noticed there wasn't anyone else singing it (as this was a solo recital).

It was -44 degrees this morning. I feel like I accomplished something by just being alive today.

Guy behind me on the plane spent about 2 hours talking about the ins and outs of “goat packing” which is apparently hiking with goats carrying your stuff. His passion for it was both refreshing and intense, but he did convince me that the big horn sheep lobby is up to no good.

Apple show #Trying definitely hits the comedic and dramatic highs and lows of foster/adoption, a show I didn’t want to watch when we were “trying” because I was afraid it would hit too close to home, and now I can’t stop cause it hits so close to home…
