Did you know, when a little tern hatches, a parent quickly removes the eggshell and discards it away from predators. RSPB England, National Trust, CumbriaWildlifeTrust and others are supporting this amazing species with LIFEOnTheEdge against a host of challenges. #Springwatch

The magnificently named Schoenoplectus tabernaemontani (or the dull & confusing Gey Club-rush, but who could possibly prefer that?) Growing in a ditch as part of the excellent wet grassland / wetland mosaics at RSPB Burton Mere Wetlands #WetlandPlants for #WildflowerHour

Many coastal plants are the ancestors of vegetables. Here's Wild Celery, Apium graveolens growing on the upper saltmarsh on Morecambe Bay. Palatble species like this would be more common if fewer marshes weren't so heavily grazed by sheep. #WetlandPlants for #WildflowerHour

🌟✨Yesterday the last 2 chicks fledged. An extraordinary year. Brilliant result from the efforts of so many farmers, land owners, field workers, volunteers, gamekeepers, donors and the local communities. A fantastic outcome for our curlew population. Many thanks to all. 🙏🙏

Only when you realise the extent of the loss of our #wetlands can you really comprehend the true #NatureDepleted state of the British Isles. We can't restore anything close to what's been lost, but there is so much that we can do. And #wildlife responds instantly. Great🧵⬇️💚
