I’m pretty lucky to have worked with a lot of talented athletes, and even more bless that a lot of those kids still stay in contact. The best part about coaching is the relationships you build with your athletes, so it’s always exciting to see them excel on the track & in life!

Athletes never really get over on coaches. They just cheat themselves and their teammates. When you don’t complete the plan coach has, when you dog a rep or a practice, skip cool down or worse skip practice you’re only cheating yourself and your competition will make you pay.

We have a lot of Ukrainians in my village in Ireland. Had a little girl and mum come in the charity shop I work in today. The little girl had €1 to spend. I was on the till. You wouldn’t believe how many toys, DVDs, books and jewellery you can buy in Ireland for €1.

And another time to mention how important academics are in recruiting. Athletes with excellent grades & test scores can receive academic scholarships as well as athletic. Make yourself as recruitable as possible by succeeding on & off the track
