Everyone, please be advised the Detroit Health Department has noted: extreme heat in today’s forecast through Friday, July 28th. Detroiters should take extra caution to keep cool. Local library branches and recreation centers are serving as cooling respite centers.

“Employers who offer high wages, or high job quality, don’t have trouble finding labor. The ones who do are the employers who have trouble keeping up with the market.” Detroit Department of Transportation can use a pay raise. Better wages. Better competition. Better transit. fastcompany.com/90945883/bosto…

That's right! We're less about gen. revenue & more so about extended producer/user responsibility. Detroit taxpayers shoulder the burden of environmental and fiscal costs that non-residents place on city resources and to that end we have an obligation to offset those costs.

According to the NHSTA, cars account for almost $115 BILLION in property damage on average a year across the country! When we negate road design and pedestrian safety, we're not only being fiscally irresponsible but we're putting lives at risk.

Alternative headline: When billionaire makes pitch on mass transit, people listen. Kudos to all the transit advocates who work tirelessly on elevating the needs of expanding mass transit for Detroit and the region. crainsdetroit.com/transportation…

How we provide and enforce tax abatements in this city needs to be revamped. As $$$ amounts for developments grow and the need to ensure community benefits before, during, and after construction, our approach to these asks matter.

A reminder that in 2014 a county executive admitted to a deliberate, multi-decade scheme to embargo the City of Detroit. Detroiters not only deserve an apology but some form of economic restitution for irreparable harm done. newyorker.com/magazine/2014/…

Lets get Detroit on this list. Not only is walkability a great indicator of a sustainable city but its a sign that when we invest in our social infrastructure we can all reap the economic and health benefits that come with it.

Eliminating parking minimums in Detroit is a conversation that is long overdue. Not only will it allow for better use of land but helps provide affordable housing, expansion of transit, and it relieves burden on taxpayers to get things done. e360.yale.edu/features/free-…

If we want to provide Detroiters with better service, attract businesses, and attract future investment, we do so by growing our transit network. Rail and bus should be our priorities and yet we've put all our eggs in the AV/EV basket. We need better. economyleague.org/resources/detr…

As of this year Detroit has less than 1mi of dedicated bus rapid transit and less than 8mi of rail btwn the Qline and PeopleMover. This is a policy failure. We will continue to advocate for greater transit investments and policies that support transit innovation.

Have you ever wondered why all new builds look exactly the same? As the first and ONLY UNESCO City of Design in the US, we fall flat on both architectural vision, standards, and attraction. nytimes.com/2023/01/20/rea…
