Today at the IOM - UN Migration 🇺🇳 and Ministério do Meio Ambiente e Mudança do Clima Traditional House Pavilion 🌎 Engage in powerful discussions on #ClimateMigration, adaptation, and the vital knowledge of traditional communities. Don’t miss today’s program 👇 #COP30
Migration can be a strategic part of climate adaptation when it is safe, well-planned, and dignified. Grateful to CNN بالعربية for the opportunity to share these insights during #COP30. cnnba.co/b35TND
We're at a vital Global Centre for Climate Mobility #COP30 panel on UN Land and Drought-UN Climate Change synergies to respond to the climate-crisis. Land degradation, mobility and climate impacts are not separate crises. They are one interconnected reality. People on the move cannot wait for fragmented systems to catch up.
As #COP30 closes, we reflect on two hectic weeks of negotiations, discussions & #ClimateMobility advocacy. We asked IOM - UN Migration 🇺🇳 Deputy Director General Ugochi Daniels: If you could share one message with young African researchers working on climate mobility, what would it be?
Today, we're delighted to hear from young activist Rose Kobusinge! Rose was selected as an inaugural IOM Climate Action Changemaker, and is Founding Director of Vital Crest Foundation Foundation. We asked Rose: "What role do you see for African youth in driving solutions for #ClimateMobility?"
Timely data is essential to guide rapid response. From 02–22 November, Displacement Tracking Matrix (DTM) 🇧🇮 recorded over 36,000 people affected by heavy rains in Burundi, including more than 7,800 displaced. Urgent support is needed to assist those impacted. Stay informed 👉🏽bit.ly/DTMBdi
🇿🇼 Today we're catching up with Global Centre for Climate Mobility Fellow Tinokunda Natalia Chimhowa from Zimbabwe! Tinokunda is a drone technology specialist monitoring environmental impacts on #displacement. We asked: "How can better data and research create more humane policy responses in #ClimateMobility?"
