Huge rock avalanche yesterday at 3.20 pm decapitating the south summit of Fluchthorn (3300 m, Silvretta, Austria), travelling onto Fluchthorn Glacier and ending around 2100 m near Jamtal mountain hut 😱 Length of the deposit is 2 km! Permafrost degradation likely involved.

December 2023 was extremely warm in Canada. All reference stations were above average, with most of the country at least 3 degrees above. Warmest December on record for many, mostly in the Prairies and Nunavut. In Alert, NU, December was warmer than November. #wxtwitter
