Verti-draining 😩

Not a great pic but Andover RFC new pitch lighting provided by the RFU and our local council TVBC! 👍

It seems to be club wide as players, particularly from the Academy, get a frustration when games/training is called off for a number of weeks. It isn’t they who will volunteer to help repairs in off season, nor help with fund raising for pitch maintenance.

Soggy Andover RFC and first time flooded pitches for many seasons, so no play! We’ll have lots to do as the water recedes but we feel sorry for those clubs that are actually underwater. The resolve of rugby people will bring things through.

Water slow to drain in north Hampshire even though we ate on chalk and flint! A few volunteers forked the pitches to try and drain the bad bits but the water table is so high. Also flints have risen to the top so a safety concern. The sand is coming soon Mr. Kent 👍

Slitting the 2nd pitch today was too much for our old Leyland 270 as she destroyed her water pump 😩. Always something eh?! As one of many wholly amateur clubs we have limited funds, particularly at this time with no income. I’m sure we’ll sort something out! Rain please!

Well, after all of our hard work a group of travellers decided to camp on our pitches 🤬. They are damn lawless but have the law on their side! More have turned up since this photo. So with so much to do we are not allowed up there to avoid confrontation! Have a good weekend!

Well, the Trespassers have gone and do the clear up has started. Luckily little pitch damage as the ground is so hard + no fuel spills, just loads of rubbish and some not very nice stuff to clear 😩.

After the much needed rain Southern Ground Care have cross-seeded and fertilised our 2 pitches. What a great job they did! Keith and Lou 2 nice and knowledgable guys. RFU approved contractors and thanks to the RFU for a grant that enabled us to have the work done.

Cross seeded and fertilised 3 weeks back and I think we timed it just right! A few signs of new seed growth but the effect of the fertiliser is so noticeable. Thanks to Southern Ground Care 👍
