Sometimes I forget that I have a browser extension that highlights people's past transphobic tweets on this app, and I'm hit with a "whoa, why is that person's name red? Ohhhhhh right." Luckily there isn't a lot of that on the Fintwit that I browse, but it's still there.

When you have a 20TB MongoDB database with corrupt indexes, and only 2TB to spare on the drive, and you need to dump/restore them to the cloud, what could go wrong? It's soooo slowwww. Also, I am not a DBA, so I'm just winging it here.

Out at happy hour talking to a guy who just got a new Eng. Manager gig. Coworker: So, is everyone normal at your new gig? Like no one is a troublemaker? Guy: Depends on your definition of normal. Software Engineer normal? Sure. πŸ˜‚

The woman at the table across from me at Starbucks is pontificating about the JIRA process of moving and closing tickets, and the condescension is thiccccck. She must be a project manager.

Nothing makes your hobbies disappear and your time fly by faster than when you over-schedule your children's activities for a season. Where did the months go, and will I have time to breath soon?! πŸ˜…

cFIREsim's successor (WIP, not released), a financial/retirement planner that simulates outcomes. I have it handling account types, taxes, the concept of people attached to those things, etc. UI is tough for me, and I'm consolidating outputs, but it's coming along.

Finally getting some summary stat tables up so that I can better visualize the ridiculous amount of data and start to ask myself questions like "What hellish 30-year retirement period caused one simulation to pay $1.2M in income taxes"? Probably some big RMDs. Woof.

Implemented my first ever GitHub actions build/deploy pipeline for both test and prod environments. Docker build/push on a Python/Django/SvelteJS project, then SSH/pull/run. It was pretty rad when it all clicked. It's going to help out a lot on my side project. #FIREproof

I'm pretty happy with this. First major "Pro" feature for FIREproof. Create any asset, using a mean/volatility/shape, and add it to your portfolio. "Shapes" for now include: Equities, Bonds, Bitcoin. fireproofme.com/blog/monte-car…
