Our club chairman won a beautiful game today at 4NCL playing for the Celtic Tigers 4NCL Can you find how white continued the attack from this position? Which famous game does it remind you of? We've seen that game recently at one of our club lectures!

Tigers looking great! - 1 win and 1 loss keeps us with the leaders going into the final weekend. 🐅

A hard fought 3-3 draw leaves Celtic Tigers 4NCL still deep in a relegation dogfight in 4NCL Div 3, but spirits were high as always at an excellent team dinner followed by some ten pin bowling in Telford town centre.

Today I played 1. d4 for the first time in a rated game, at 4NCL! I had no idea what I was doing until I finally pushed 19. e4. Perhaps a sign that I should do that on move 1😂 Later I gave up my advantage and was lucky to get another chance (2nd pic), white to play and win!

Running on empty today personally, but a solid 4-2 win lifted Celtic Tigers 4NCL 2 to a respectable 7th place finish. I don’t think I’ll be winning a modelling contract any time soon, but the new Tigers kit designed by our very own Matt Perchard proved both stylish…and lucky!🍀😀

Alas. A 6.5-1.5 win in the last round wasn’t enough to save us from relegation this season. A few small moments here or there is the difference between saving the season and dropping. Very proud of all the players this year who fought hard while we were often the underdogs. 🐅

That completes 25 years of playing in the 4NCL with many fun memories. A privilege to play on four great teams: Athenaeum, Kings Head, the Fermented Sharks and now the Celtic Tigers. Always tough chess and good company. A shout out to our indefatigable skipper Christopher Skulte 👏🏻
