Burning is not recommended on Thursday, due to brisk west-northwesterly winds gusting up to 40 mph and low humidity values below 25% during the afternoon. Even with recent rainfall, these conditions could lead to erratic fire behavior. #ILwx

An Air Quality Alert is in effect for today through midnight. According to Illinois EPA, ozone concentrations will result in conditions unhealthy for sensitive groups. #ILwx

Only local traffic will be permitted on U.S. 45 between County Highway 18 north of Mattoon and Illinois 133 in Arcola. Motorists are encouraged to follow the posted detour and should allow for extra travel time.

Fires today could quickly become uncontrollable. Report any unattended fires, especially near crops or caused by farm equipment, to 9-1-1 immediately.
