In honor of our hero John Lewis, I made a tee with his iconic "Good trouble" saying. ALL PROCEEDS will go to Brennan Center which is a solid org working to increase voting rights across the U.S. ✊🏽 Please support & share! #goodtrouble John Lewis teespring.com/good-trouble-9…

School-based racial trauma is real. Saying that a curriculum is violent (or the way a teacher chooses to present material) speaks to the emotional and intellectual trauma we place on students if we do not question our curriculum. Trauma extends to LGBTQ Ss & Ss w/ disabilities.

I don’t know who needs to hear this, but let black women have this moment. And realize, people have demanded that black women support people who are waaaaaaay more problematic. So yes, we expect y’all to keep that same energy.

Text this number to find out what Indigenous lands you occupy. Thank you, ⁦britt hawthorne (they/she)⁩. Great activity to do with Ss. They could also see what lands their friends and family occupy. What an important intro on honoring land & the horrific impacts of colonization.

My son brought Jackpot to me this morning and said ‘Mommy, read dis.’ 😭😍 Maybe he knows @getnicced writes 🔥 literature. Maybe he knows the first day of school is tomorrow. Whatever it is, he already knows what’s up at 2 years old. #soproud

Counting down the days! Not just amazing for our own children but perfect for our Ss as well. Young adults need picture books, too—especially those that serve as windows into a new experience and mirrors that reflect their own identities. @iammarleydias is the real MVP.

washingtonpost.com/lifestyle/well… Thank you for sharing @ShermanReads! Especially now, especially this year, especially with all the trauma our students are experiencing with Corona, police brutality, identity, so many losses, loneliness. It’s okay not to be okay. 💜

Let’s not be mistaken. While this moment is historic for all, Black women carried the vote. Black women took people to the polls, organized, and fought. Stacey Abrams turned GA blue. 55% of WW voted for Trump. The 91% of Black women who voted 4 change should not be lost on us.

Why we still grading? Feedback, the changes students make, and student/ teacher conversations work just fine for us to see growth. Thanks @wright_meagan for this great rec.
