Most teachers control whether or not their students can even go to the bathroom........ I could say far more, but like....how are they not oppressing kids?

like literally my merry band of uni friends living in an 8 bedroom house at 19 felt more like a family than the adults i grew up with. kids should have that option, because they aren’t property as much as adults want them to be.

“good” parents on the left quietly benefit from child ownership while telling themselves it’s ok because they aren’t like the conservative ones who spank their kids and are vocally pro abuse. if they cared they’d hate the power they have, and say it’s wrong. but they don’t.

children are oppressed. more than you realize. arguments like “brain development” (as devised by white male pseudoscience™️) have historically been used to uphold the oppression of a number of marginalized groups. it is NO DIFFERENT for kids.

this! adults *know* kids hate school and will readily acknowledge it. this should be enough to want to abolish it. adults don’t because they don’t want to lose the power they have over kids. “kids are *supposed* to hate school because they’re *supposed* to remain oppressed”

kids having rights in general threatens the adultist hegemony, there is so much pushback at the most basic rights. corporal assault for example - there are decades old scientific studies about how bad it is, yet most parents still do it and it’s still legal in most countries.

mothers are agents of the patriarchy who systemically abuse kids, so blaming/shaming them is kind of imperative for youth liberation. adults appeal to “feminism” via “you’re woman shaming” because they don’t see kids as people. but feminism without youth lib isn’t feminism.
