So, who is going to pay to finish this wildly over-budget pipeline that insurers are running away from now that the feds are cutting off $$? And while you're at it, Jonathan Wilkinson 🇨🇦 & Steven Guilbeault, I'm still wondering how this is going to "pay for the transition"?
"At this late hour in the climate emergency, with the International Energy Agency and IPCC telling us our global carbon budget cannot abide any new fossil fuel projects, our government’s Bay du Nord decision amounts to an act of arson." via Seth Klein nationalobserver.com/2022/05/05/opi…
In #ENVI today Finance Canada called the new #CCUS tax credit a fossil fuel subsidy Last week, Jonathan Wilkinson 🇨🇦 said it's not a subsidy This is why Canada must start using international definitions. All money that goes to oil & gas companies IS a fossil fuel subsidy
The federal government’s decision to approve a $10-billion loan guarantee for Trans Mountain isn’t surprising, but Finance Canada's refusal to be transparent about TMX is a huge scandal. A🧵on Chrystia Freeland’s claims, #TMX, and the “culture of secrecy” around it
"Watching devastation in my own backyard in real time, I realized that spending most of adult life as climate organizer had done little to prepare me to support my community in actually dealing with the impacts of climate change." Cam Fenton wagingnonviolence.org/2022/09/the-cl…
New analysis shows taxpayers will end up on the hook for the TMX boondoggle and Chrystia Freeland and Finance Canada are still trying to mislead the public about it. A massive scandal is brewing here and the gov can't answer basic questions. via Natasha Bulowski nationalobserver.com/2022/10/06/new…
Amazing! Alberta oil sands unions are calling on the fed gvt to dramatically increase just transition funding. 🙏 Alberta Federation of Labour Oilsands workers tell Justin Trudeau they need billions more to transition away from fossil fuel-based jobs thestar.com/politics/feder… via @torontostar
Quite an interesting health care policy announcement from Anjali Appadurai today. Includes: - Immediate 25% raise for RNs to stabilize staffing. - Turning UPCCs into Community Health Centres with doctors, teams and better hours. - Free counselling services across BC
If tonight marks the end of the Anjali Appadurai campaign, I'd caution any New Democrat hyper-partisans from gloating about it. It should be deeply, deeply embarrassing to the NDP that Appadurai out-organized the entire caucus and cabinet, who'd endorsed Eby, in membership signups.
