Rashida: I saw such surprise in my students when I told them that I was once just like them-a shy girl who came from nothing.

Rashida: Transformation is happening. Girls who thought they were bound to poverty are rising up to overcome challenges.

Question of the day: What kind of leader would you like to be?

Astridah: I will be a leader who understands people and who helps them work as a team.

Matilda: I want to be an honest leader, by giving enough money to my fellow workers and helping my fellow girls if I am able.

Precious: As a leader, I want to help people overcome challenges if they come to me with a problem.

Ngandwe: As a leader, i should not be bossy. I must be humble and be ready to make sacrifices.

Bibian: I want to inspire my people, to advise them and lead by example.

Petronella: Yesterday we did a presentation on social entrepreneurship and i used PowerPoint for the 1st time. I was very proud.

Petronella: My group started a lending scheme. We are sharing our challenges with girls from other projects so they can offer different ...

Petronella: My mom struggled to send her children to school so I was very happy to empower women with small loans.

Petronella: Today we learned about the reproductive system. Most of us knew little about condoms or the delivery process in childbirth.

Today 1 of the girls told me she loved to draw, was there any kind of career like that? We talked about making signs for local businesses.

These girls are born improvisers. The role plays they do in class are fearless-and funny!

Last night, the girls formed a circle around me and said: We want to see you dance, Kimberley! I complied. It was humbling.
