The combination of surface dew points in the mid 70s and an EML overhead (mid-level lapse rates >7 C/km) is resulting in extreme CAPE over the Northeast today with some values exceeding 5000 J/Kg, which is record territory in the region according to SPC Sounding Climatology.

The Midwest gets "corn sweat" as evapotranspiration adds additional moisture to the air on the hottest days. Days like today illustrate the Northeast can get a similar humidity boost as moisture is released from trees following a wet spring. Should we call this "tree sweat"?

Logan already hit 90°F before 10AM—hotter than inland sites to the NW. Classic downsloping: air descends off the Worcester Hills, compresses, and heats up. This setup could easily push Boston to 100°F later today.
