The # of students requiring intensive supports has increased by 40% while the # of specialists (psychologists, EAL teachers & speech pathologists) has steadily decreased. It’s time to stand up for Edu Sk. RPSTA CBC Saskatchewan 980 CJME #MAKENOISE4ED

WATCH: It is officially time for the winter holidays, and Saskatchewan students couldn't be more excited. Our Andrew Benson caught up with some kids at one elementary school to see what Christmas means to them. READ: globalnews.ca/regina/

Take a look at what SK teachers are asking for. Smaller class size, more EAs, time to prepare. This is not a money grab and never has been. The teachers want what parents should want - a safe place to learn..Support teachers as much if not more than they support your kids.

Since 2016/17, Saskatchewan schools have 15,000 more students. Yet only ten (10!) more teachers. Saskatchewan Teachers' Federation is exactly right - the government must stop short-changing tomorrow's workers and get back to the table.

This is absolutely wild. Point to this next time Jeremy Cockrill tries to fumble his way through another media appearance. ⏬️⏬️ #Saskatchewan #skpoli #iamstf #standupforpubliceducation

This is why teachers are out fighting for our students. Under the Sask. Party, since 2016, we've only added ONE full-time teacher for an additional 15,254 students. This year, the choice is clear. It's time for change. #skpoli #cdnpoli

One more time for the people who clearly missed this the first time. Extra curricular activities are completely voluntary and not part of a teacher's job. Teacher's do them to support our kids. You can not legislate people to do voluntary work. #IsupportSTF

How can we help class size and complexity? Manitoba has 16500 teachers and SK has 13300. Manitoba has only 15000 more K-12 students then SK yet has 3200 more teachers. Just think about the support our kids would get with this ratio as this would add over 1000 teachers to SK.

When I voted ‘no’, as a teacher that sees classrooms with not enough supports in place for students. I also voted ‘no’ as a parent, because based on what I see as a teacher, this is not the education system my kids should be growing up with. My kids and your kids deserve better.

Teachers are doing everything they can to make sure our kids get the support they need. But they can't do it alone. This fall, we encourage you to vote for better funding for public schools in the provincial and school board elections. 🗳️ Stay in the loop: TellThemTuesday.com

Carla Beck and the Saskatchewan New Democrats will make a generational $2-billion investment in our kids to reduce class sizes, hire teachers, support students with complex learning needs and more. This election, the future of our province is on the ballot. It’s time for change!

For reference, Sasktel Centre in Saskatoon holds just over 15,000 people. Imagine having it full for a concert, Rush game, or Blades game with only 10 staff. Now imagine it full of kids with only 10 adults.
