This is an excellent but alarming article about a well-meaning but misguided new policy on suspensions in public schools. The author - channelling Sir Humphrey Appleby perhaps - calls it brave. If you care about public schools please read it. gregashman.wordpress.com/2020/08/28/sus…

In 1885, a contingent of troops from NSW arrived in Egypt to support the British-backed Egyptian regime from an uprising of locals known as the Mahdi. The Soudan War was the first time Australians fought in an imperial war. This is Soudan Lane in Sydney’s Newtown, named in memory

We asked Margaret & David – Australia’s most-loved reviewers – to review '2020'. As usual they disagreed. #WarOn2020

Back to needing 4 teachers for 2021 after someone pulling out today. Anyone who wants to have a crack at teaching science and is an enthusiastic and competent teacher please let me know - science codes not essential. We have an awesome school community - you won’t regret it!

$128 million on advertising and promotions??? Is this really the best use of taxpayer money? Who signs off on this stuff?? Where is the accountability?

All of this was predictable. It was predicted. And the lasting shame of history will be on all those who refused to act out of cowardice, ambition, or their own allegiance to an authoritarian movement.

Brisbane Grammar got $3m in JobKeeper. Yet its fee revenue rose. Its headmaster got a pay rise (to $539k). It has $177m in assets. Its $70m STEAM Precinct is due to open in 2023. The school says "men of character" should "give back to the wider community". I couldn't agree more.

It costs $4.3 million a year to keep one - REPEAT ONE - refugee on Nauru. There are 107 of them at the moment. That’s $460.1m Or >96m Rapid Antigen Tests. Insanity.
