Last week, the House voted down the Medicaid budget and asked that some careful cuts be made. This is the first time in 17 years that members have rejected a Medicaid budget and forced a more fiscally conservative approach. Today we approved H369, the new budget proposed by JFAC.

They worked hard and came back with $150M in cuts and a promise to put a working group together to do even more work on “truing” their numbers and removing people from this program. Grateful for their work and Rep. Raybould’s (Britt Raybould) presentation.

JFAC brought us a bloated budget last week, and we told them it needed some cuts. Today they came back with $150 million in cuts and a significantly more conservative budget, in addition to a pledge to continue to find ways to reduce government spending. House approved, 40-30.

After the reversal of Roe v. Wade, the real work has begun for pro-life legislators - we can do more than just talk. H 374 is a good first step in making Idaho a sanctuary for life, and we have more still to do. #idpol #idleg #abortion

My thoughts on H 71 and the mental health crisis our kids are facing. As parents, we have a duty to love our kids - and that can mean telling them some hard truths. The Vulnerable Child Protection Act now goes to Brad Little for his signature. #idpol #idleg

Today the state House passed a bill to increase the penalty for solicitation of commercial sexual activity. Most offenders are "high frequency," and we must do more to protect our girls and all victims of sex trafficking – they are not for sale. legislature.idaho.gov/sessioninfo/20…

Great day at the Capitol yesterday. Had a chance to honor Boise State Head Football Coach Spencer Danielson. Coach D is an excellent coach, we are fortunate to have him at Boise State. Go Broncos!

Great news for Idaho families today as Brad Little signed our School Choice bill into law! This will open up incredible new opportunities for all Idahoans. I was very happy to vote Yes on the bill earlier this month. #idaho #idleg #idpol #schoolchoice

No more mask mandates in Idaho! Yesterday Brad Little signed into law House Bill 32 prohibiting face mask mandates. As chairman of the House State Affairs Committee, I was pleased to work alongside colleagues in the House & Senate to make this happen! #idaho #idleg #idpol

Brent, thank you for never giving up on this issue. You brought this bill, and others like it, before your committee each time someone tried and you always championed its journey to the Governor’s desk. Thank you for your leadership!!

Very excited about the Idaho DOGE Legislative Task Force bill, H364, which came through my committee, State Affairs, and passed the House on Monday. It will help save taxpayers' money, streamline regulations, and keep the bureaucracy in check. #DOGE #idaho #idleg

Let's make sure Idaho cities don't become the next Seattle, Portland or San Francisco! This week the House State Affairs Committee passed a bill to prevent homeless encampments in our larger cities. It's unsafe for those who are homeless, as well as for residents. #idaho #idleg

This week in the House State Affairs Committee we approved House Bill 472, the Medical Freedom Act, which replaces the bill the Governor vetoed. This bill addresses the Governor's concerns and still makes sure you cannot be forced to take a vaccine.
