The sad thing is: for those of us who work with DV/IPV survivors and understand the criminal justice never anticipated a favorable outcome. This system is not built for survivors and yet its outcomes will be used as a referendum on survivor believability and Diddy’s “innocence.”

we have to address a primary contradiction in this new phase of our struggle. should we ever rely on the biggest threat to life on earth for our provisions of anything? And we may all know the answer is naw, but how will we make it otherwise while also reducing harm and fallout?

Many many people are going to die, people you don’t give af about and people you love alike, if we do not shake our individualism — which is a prerequisite to building any kind of survival infrastructure to bolster our communities for fighting back.

on 7/10, my grandma left the physical world surrounded by her family: her siblings, her niblings, her children, her grandchildren, and her great grandchildren. this is bringing me comfort in my grief.

please read the essay “feminist movement to end violence” by bell hooks. she expressly draws these connections between the function of capitalism, patriarchy, antiblackness, and violence in the home

I want to push back and say that prison abolition is not this…it’s actually the hardest parts of praxis. It’s completely redefining how we look at crime, punishment, and community. It’s not easy and it’s not baking lasagna.

What this person is describing is being in community, mutual aid. abolition is when a person in my community had to hold their immeasurable pain while also deciding to advocate not to send the person to prison who accidentally shot their kid…casserole not gonna cut it babes.
