Sprinting and Jumping in S&C programs doesn’t need to be complicated. If we keep the effort and compete level high, 10-20m sprints (linear and curved) work perfect. For jumping, add some load, give target heights and/or distances, and allow plenty of rest. Simple.Effective.

Rear Foot Elevated Split Squats are a big part of my programs. It’s common for kids to struggle initially with them w/o any assistance (generally by using a stick as support). With that being said, using the cue “push your big toe into the ground” has helped them A LOT!

I’ve been watching THE PLAYERS tournament this afternoon. On three separate occasions the announcers have mentioned how players have increased their lower body STRENGTH off the course to help with ball speed and power out of the rough. Golfers, hit the weights. It’ll pay off.

It’s amazing how motivated and fresh I feel coaching after taking weeklong vacations. My cues are snappier, voice feels better, and mind is clearer. Personally, a vacation every 3-4 months does the trick. Coaches, how often do you take extended time off? And for how long?
