A powerful start to #NAIDOC2022 w FW (Future Women) Nerita Waight 'First Nations communities are not just stories of the same disadvantage... We are stories of adversity, yes, but strength and determination and purpose and innovative solutions'. Time to amplify First Nations voices!

My take away from @SuzannePitama keynote at the ANZAHPE festival: Health Prof edu is often not Culturally Safe for First Nations academics and Cultural Load is too high. Non-Indigenous engagement and institutional support are essential for an aligned EDI Framework development.

💉 Are you aged 30+? 💉 Has it been three months since you had COVID / received your last COVID vaccine? If yes, you’re eligible for a booster. As Jack Feehan + Vasso Apostolopoulos (Victoria University) write, it's the best way to prevent infection + severe disease. bit.ly/3Pb3eOx

This thread is an excellent evidence base. Masks are such a simple thing we can do to protect each other. Hundreds of people are dying from Covid in Australia daily. Please consider wearing one indoors as we approach the peak of this winter wave.

Hey Luke Hodge , where’s your letter supporting your Indigenous team mates who faced obvious and overt racism? Coz this reads as “can’t speak for everyone else, but this white guy had a good time with his white mates”

Personal pronouns are easy to use correctly. If they tell you they use she/her, use she/her If they tell you they use they/them, use they/them If they tell you they use he/him, use he/him Use the pronouns people provide, today and everyday #InternationalPronounsDay

You know what isn't happening? Being driven off Twitter a week before #TransAwarenessWeek. #TransgenderAwarenessWeek is Nov 13-19 this year. Flooding timelines with #TransAffirmingTweets is absolutely a thing, so let's do that. #IndigiQueer #IndigiTrans

We stand in unwavering support of the trans community, today and always. The anti trans actions yesterday have no place in a world where everyone deserves to live free from discrimination, vilification, violence and harassment. #TransRightsAreHumanRights

This! When discussing equity in healthcare I’m often asked by well-meaning final year students ‘but can’t we just be kind and treat everyone equally?’.. and my answer is always ‘that assumes that all of your patients had the same starting line’.

If you were ally enough to vote Yes’, then there’s a few things you can do now. 1. Listen to Aboriginal people. 2. Get that this isn’t about you. 3. The hand-wringing surprise that Australia is racist is insulting. We’ve said it for years. Stop denying, and work to change it.

Balancing my full-time academic/teaching load with a part-time PhD has been a Herculean effort this year! I’m so excited (and mostly relieved) to have ticked off this first milestone (with minor amendments) yesterday!

A great start to Ottawa 2024 yesterday discussing how we can work towards assessment for inclusion in Health Professions Education. So many thoughtful contributions shared that I will be taking back to our team!

After a weekend of workshops the official Day 1 of Ottawa 2024 has my brain buzzing with all the possibilities. Proud to present our work on the design of the Clinical Reasoning Task that has been implemented across the Victoria University post-grad osteopathy program. #Ottawa2024
