Star Trek doesn't promise that tomorrow will be a better place. In fact, many Trek stories warn what could happen if we make bad choices. However Trek says tomorrow CAN be a better place if we are smart, if we work hard, and if we are compassionate and inclusive.

One bright spot: Despite hundreds of millions in anti-LGBTQ+ ads this election, every incumbent LGBTQ+ member of Congress was reelected and newcomers Sarah McBride, Emily Randall, and Julie Johnson are joining their ranks. Even amidst the darkness, there is progress.

Administrations will come and go: some will support us, others will oppose us. One thing will always remain the same - queer people are not going anywhere.

If you want to win elections you shouldn't be actively trying to alienate your most loyal voters.

Star Trek has always been political. Roddenberry designed ST to use allegory to tell stories that might not otherwise be allowed on network TV. From the beginning, he strove to show a bolder, better, more inclusive future, which I believe is at the core of its enduring appeal.
