The pleasure of critique (and diacritical play), from last year's Lorem Dripsum. I drew some Taglientesque flourishes onto Joshua Darden's Freight. #diacritics #critique #typography #lettering #flourish #graphicdesign

Spent last Friday teaching mini relief printmaking workshops to 3rd-5th graders, and I’m still wiped out. On the left, my 5th grader’s self portrait showing what he did over spring break. #arteducation #reliefprintmaking

Our Wheaton College Summer Institute students have been making (amongst other things) some giant, playful volumes of light this week. Gallery opening is later today (Friday) from 5-6pm in Adams Hall. #artatwheaton #lanterns #puppets

Remembering my freshman art history professor RISD, Baruch Kirschenbaum. I often think of his engaging lectures when I am teaching my own art survey courses. Here is an interview from a while ago: digitalcommons.risd.edu/archives_oralh… #BaruchKirschenbaum #arthistory #requiescatinpace #risd

A still from a performance of "Ahmaud" a setting of a poem by Tsitsi Ella Jaji from composer Shawn Shawn E. Okpebholo's "Songs in Flight" sung by Rhiannon Giddens. I designed and printed the projected typography. A remarkable collab: youtube.com/watch?v=XcpHaZ… Wheaton College #AhmaudArbery

Some letterpress & silkscreen printed posters from 2013. Shang Lin, my student at the time, was a big help with these. The quote was something Dr Cecilia González-Andrieu, keynote speaker at the conference, said which we latched onto and made these with our workshop attendees.

Another iteration: a print made for the 2015 Chicagoose (Annual APA Wayzgoose). Edition of 125 hand pulled prints, with hand set, letterpress printed Franklin Gothic & spot varnish over green on brick paper. The large "B" in the background is from a modular font I created.

Thought I'd play a bit with some vernacular lettering, based on wood type forms. Enjoying the strange but wonderful counterforms between the letters in WALZ. #HarrisWalz2024 Kamala HQ Tim Walz #lettering #typography

Sometimes I feel bad that Eric Satie’s Gymnopédie no. 2 has to sit between its more memorable siblings. WFMT #EricSatie #gymnopedie
