The Tjahyadi family Bone Kettle refuses to give in. Eric runs the business. Brother Erwin is the chef. Their father helps out everywhere. They came here as refugees from Indonesia. They are well acquainted with adversity. Here’s Eric, who keeps finding new ways to stay afloat.
At the once-crowded bar, Bone Kettle now sells baked goods to go. The long communal table has become a boutique, selling items to soothe coronavirus anxieties. Every surface up front now offers items for sale. It helps keep lights on, staff working.
Changing restrictions have been so hard on restaurants. Bone Kettle invested heavily in its outdoor dining space, but for now can’t serve diners in it.
