We can't love God and hate people.

In the age of Social Media: Getting people to be angry is easy. Getting people to be compassionate is almost impossible.

Every failure has a lesson that probably can’t be learned another way. The wisest people I know have failed the most because they get up every day and get after it again. They don’t mail it in. They don’t play it safe. They don’t fear failing...they push it until they do.

There are things about God that are troubling, and I chose to trust Him. This is my relational choice. I am not a fan of “recreating” God in whatever image is most comfortable or that fits the narrative we want to promote. There needs to be some “I don’t knows” in the mix.

Unshared joy is joy incomplete. Share the joy of little things and others can rejoice with you. So far today I have enjoyed: watching white clouds move across the blue sky, black coffee from a favorite mug, writing a poem no one but me will ever read and listening to the wind.

If you are a Christian, then you are always an Ambassador for God’s family. You might be a good Ambassador or a bad Ambassador…but you are always an Ambassador.

Intentionally overlooking an offense is one of the most powerful and liberating things we can do.

A question I wrestle with when I get irritated with others is: "When was the last time I was disgusted and broken by my own sin?"

The acts of the sinful nature are OBVIOUS…hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions and envy. They are OBVIOUS! Obviously, God doesn’t want us to live this way. Obviously, this destroy our witness. Obviously, we should live by the Spirit.

Selfish ambition and vain conceit are symptoms that I am not satisfied with who God declares I am and that I am looking for something outside of His will.

Jesus never made His mom an idol but He did obey her, please her, break away from her and always honor her. Moms are not perfect, but they are worth honoring.

Sometimes the best innovations come from using old things in new ways. What was mocked as cheesy could be celebrated as classy. Things become cheesy when they are overused, but the reason they were overused is because they worked. Explore what worked then apply it with a twist.

Misplaced hope is wasted hope. Hope is precious. Never waste it on things God hasn’t promised.

Identity determines behavior. Know who you are so that you know what to do. Identity issues prevent us from following Jesus. I am a conservative so I must act like a conservative-OR-I am a liberal so I must act like a liberal. No. I am a follower of Jesus so I must follow Jesus.

I asked myself how I was doing and the answer was "not good." So I decided to ask God how I was doing and the answer was "very good." Now I must decide who to believe.

You don't need silver linings when you learn to love the rain.

Methodology must change, because the world changes. We've got 3 options: 1. Keep doing things that no longer work. 2. Quit. 3. Try something new. I'll catch ya on the flip side.

It's so easy to only hear what our itching ears want to hear. There are worlds of beauty out there that may not fit into our cleverly crafted me-centered world-views. Turn the dial and enjoy being challenged by something new.
