2-3 inches of rain overnight. I’m afraid we’re going to be looking at prevent plant for corn if things don’t change quickly but the forecast calls for more rain. First time for everything.

The first Warner Seeds 2023 demo went in the ground in Garden City KS today. Big shout out to Texas AgriScience, LLC for navigating the crazy rain patterns and getting it in, and to Alex Soria for putting up with last minute packing changes and requests.

Our two hour window of rain just became eight. These sandy soils could use the moisture, but my fresh dirt work did not….

Sorghum is an amazing crop. Planting of our showcase plot west of Amarillo was delayed by two weeks as we dodged tornados, hail and massive amounts of rain (Rare for the Texas Panhandle). Now the heat has turned on and the sorghum has hit its stride. Photos are 3 weeks apart.

The best part is he went to do this on a Saturday since it would be a “two hour project.” A dead tractor battery, destroyed shredder, and three days later, end result looks great!

The crop is progressing slightly faster than expected, so we called in a reinforcement to keep it the the plot ready for tours next week. Excited to show the new products Warner will offer our retail partners and growers in 2024. Thanks Barry Lubbers! Alex Soria Rusty Bevel

While #HurricaneBeryl created havoc for farmers in the field prior to harvest. A major blow was also done to the infrastructure that many rely on to store their crop following harvest. This is the United Ag Hillje, TX location following the storm this morning.

Watonga, OK - the lone 2025 sorghum multicut plot where I stayed (mostly) mud-free. I could get used to this. Regrowth check in a month.

Since it usually takes me 30 minutes to figure out R&D plot layouts, I’m now making it mandatory to start the plot with a forage. Nice BMR in the first rep at the Garden City KS demo to help mark the beginning of the plot.
