There’s no easy way to say this but Tommy (Gamer) took his life earlier today. Tommy was one of my best friends. A genuine, devoted, kind, loving soul. I’m grateful to have been able to spend so many years with you. I’m grateful we were able to talk so much.

I find grief as an emotional response to be very complicated, as its absence is what proves most painful for me. I met Gamer ten years ago when I was 13. He was the first player I scrimmed against, the first I met in person, and one of the first I shared tournament wins with.

One day I’ll buy a DVD player and rewatch some of these old DVDs from when I was a kid…
