My prayers are with all those affected by the flooding in Michigan. We, in Southeast Texas, can certainly understand the heartache that type of devastation brings.

As we celebrate the Ascension of our Lord into Heaven, we must remember that Christ lives in each of us. Remember our Lord’s words, “Behold, I am with you always, until the end of the age”

Today in observance of Memorial Day, we honor our nation’s fallen military heroes. My prayers and thoughts are also with all of the men and women who have fought and are still fighting for our country.

As Pentecost approaches, may the Holy Spirit continue to fill your heart and use you to proclaim the Gospel message of Christ just as the apostles did.

Today is Pentecost, the celebration of the Church’s birthday! More than 2,000 years ago, the apostles, empowered by the Holy Spirit, courageously proclaimed our Lord’s message. During these troubling times, may the Holy Spirit give you courage to proclaim & live the Gospel.

The construction of St. Mary’s new church-hall is coming along smoothly. I was able to take Bishop-elect Toups to Cleveland today to see the work in progress. We thank our Lord for the growing faith community in Cleveland and for all who are making this new facility possible.†

Join me in praying for longtime Congressman John Lewis and the comfort of all those who loved him. He inspired us to fight for equality, justice and unity.

Today we rejoice because we were able to dedicate the chapel and bless the buildings at our beautiful retreat center damaged so greatly by Harvey. Then my thoughts go to those affected by Hanna and my prayers are with them as they begin to recover from that storm.

August 1st will mark the 100-year anniversary of the Sacred Heart, Port Arthur, Knights of Peter Claver Council 32. I thank all of the Knights, past and present, for their service and stewardship to the community.

Join me in praying for Bishop-elect Toups who, on 7/31, will begin an 8-day retreat in preparation for his ordination to the Order of Bishop. Remember him in your daily prayer especially the rosary and when at Eucharist whether in person or by live streaming during this pandemic.

Please join me in prayer for those who died and all those affected by the explosion in Beirut.

My thoughts and prayers go out to those who died and affected by Tropical Storm Isaias. It saddens me to see so many lives taken today.

My prayers are with the Beaumont police officers, and all involved, in the tragic accident this morning. Praying also for the entire police department and their families.
