Mistake to assume I knew better than the weather forecast and try the Hambledon Hill transect today. But I did get to see Meadow Browns literally scuttling for cover from the downpour.

Transect walk at Jerry's Hole today. Cowslips over, yellow rattle looking wonderful. Brimstones, Green Hairstreak, Common Blue, Red Admiral, Large White, Dingy Skipper, Speckled Wood.

So excited to find these cinnabar moth caterpillars in the garden. Have loved them since childhood holidays when we used to play with them, making homes on the cliffs for them. I know, we don't do that any more!
