Tim Hampson I think two of the most important things for listening classes are making the input very comprehensible & giving lots of meaningful repetition. In my English videos I use visuals as much as I can with what I say & repeat lots e.g. by asking easy questions: youtube.com/channel/UCSW8F…
One of the best videos on language learning ever made... helped influence me to start Comprehensible Thai. Thanks to Kristian Peltonen | Beyond Language Learning for this amazing video! youtube.com/watch?v=yW8M4J…
[Language acquisition] happens without effort and it happens without worrying about it and you can’t stop it. It needs to be comprehensible and it needs to be interesting– so interesting that you forget you’re listening to another language. Stephen Krashen #langchat #mflchat
Terry Waltz, Ph.D 蔡琳 Martina Bex Stephen Krashen I think that sometimes especially for beginners, it can be interesting or even compelling just to be able to understand messages in the L2 because they're presented in ways that make them highly comprehensible, even when the content itself isn't inherently that interesting.
Good video from Benny the Irish polyglot about mental health and pace. When I learned of my friend's suicide a few weeks ago, I tried to keep going with my work but found I just couldn't do it. I took time away, have been talking to a counsellor and friends, and am gradually starting again
Mischa Wilmers More research is needed on this to be sure, but in my experience adults can acquire features like tones through comprehensible input alone, IF the input sufficiently precedes output. Also they need to listen to the L2 on its own terms, not impose L1, etc. on what they're hearing.
🧵… Also thanks to Kristian of Kristian Peltonen | Beyond Language Learning! He did a great video about Automatic Language Growth that helped me to crystallize my thinking about #comprehensibleinput. If #opetp convinces you and you're learning English, look no further youtube.com/@Comprehensibl…
Love Anuforo Mr. Salas While my videos like these might appear to just be to teach certain verbs, a main difference between them and a lot of the English teaching content out there is I *use* the words many, many times in meaningful ways with a variety of visuals and contexts: youtube.com/watch?v=8x1inM…
